Police: Teen attacked on Ten Mile River Greenway in Pawtucket

PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WPRI) — Pawtucket police are investigating a sexual assault in the area of the Ten Mile River Greenway.

Police say a 17-year-old girl was attacked around 8 p.m. Friday night.

It happened in a wooded area between the Tomlinson Sports Complex and the Armistance Boulevard section of the bike path.

Police have dispatched extra patrols to the area and are actively searching for the suspect.

He’s described as white man in his 50’s, about five-foot-nine, thin, with grayish hair that was balding, gray t-shirt, jeans and white sneakers.

The victim also told police the suspect smelled of cigarette smoke.

Pawtucket police are asking anyone who may have in on the Ten Mile River Greenway around the time of the incident or saw the suspect to contact Detective Chip Devine at 401-727-9100 ext. 764 or Det. Michael Cioe 401-727-9100 ext. 758.
