Police seize two more illegal guns in New Bedford

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WPRI) – New Bedford Police detectives seized a pair of illegal guns Thursday evening.

According to Captain Steven Vicente, members of the department’s Organized Crime Intelligence Bureau carried out a search warrant at a Hemlock Street home after an investigation led them to believe that the resident possessed illegal firearms.

Detectives arrested the resident, 25 year-old Rany Pimental, as she left the home at about 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

Inside, detectives found a Taurus .357 revolver and 9mm Tec-9 under her bed, along with 15 rounds of ammunition. Police said that the Tec-9 was reported stolen from Dartmouth.

Pimental did not have a license to possess either weapon.

Vicente said that the unit has seized 32 illegal guns so far this year.
