Police searching for Warwick liquor store burglary suspects

WARWICK, R.I. (WPRI) — Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying two suspects who were caught on surveillance camera breaking into and robbing a Warwick liquor store.

Surveillance video shows one of the suspects smashing a brick through one of the front doors of Haxton’s Liquors on Bald Hill Road Sunday night. The suspects are seen trying to shield their identities by covering their faces with shirts and hats.

“Everything is crystal clear,” President of Microtech Security Inc. Michael Mangili said of the security footage. “It was quick, as soon as they started seeing flashing lights they just took off and ran out.”

Mangili operates the surveillance camera system for the business. He said the thieves got away with a few bottles of alcohol and cartons of cigarettes, which combined are worth about $2,800.

“To be this bold, to be able to break in the front door and go in, I’ll tell you it’s a wake-up call,” Mangili said.

The front door has since been fixed. Mangili said he is confident the suspects will be caught since they left fingerprints all over the scene and the surveillance cameras caught a glimpse of their faces.

“Because of this, we’re going to beef up security to the point where there’s not a shot that they’re going to be able to get away with anything,” he said.

Mangili said the suspects likely took off on foot. The incident remains under investigation by the Warwick Police Department.
