Police searching for bank robbery suspect

WEST WARWICK, R.I. (WPRI) – West Warwick police are looking for a man who allegedly robbed a bank Wednesday afternoon.

Police said that at about 3:40 p.m., the white man walked into the Coventry Credit Union at 744 Main Street and showed a handgun.

The man allegedly handed the teller a plastic shopping bag and told her to fill it; he exited the bank through a side door and ran towards a nearby street. Witnesses said a maroon car was seen fleeing that area a few minutes later.

The man was described as wearing a tan jacket, black and red plaid shirt, a red hat, a dark hooded sweatshirt, dark pants, and with a nylon stocking over his face.
