NARRAGANSETT, R.I. (WPRI) — Narragansett Police say they’re on alert this weekend as the school year winds down for local college students.

The increased patrols come nearly a year after a wild block party with about 1,000 revelers on Greene Lane ended with 15 people in handcuffs, and some injured by flying bottles.

“It got a little too out of control, I think.” URI junior TJ Lineis told Eyewitness News. “Just with all of the bottles being thrown around. It just wasn’t a safe environment.”

South Kingstown Police and State Police are also boosting their presence in the off campus neighborhoods to make sure things do not get out of hand again. Authorities say they’re confident they will not see a repeat of the events from last year.
