Police looking for help identifying Cranston bank robbery suspect


CRANSTON, R.I. (WPRI) – The city of Cranston is looking for a male suspect in an afternoon bank robbery Tuesday.

The robbery occurred at the Webster Bank, located at 1215 Park Avenue, at 12:35 p.m.

Bank employees tell Cranston Police the suspect entered the bank, and handed a note to a bank teller threatening her life if she did not empty the cash register drawer.

The suspect took the money and fled on foot in an unknown direction.

He is being described as a white male, 25-40 years old, approximately 6’0” in height, wearing a black pea coat jacket, jeans, a white scarf, and loose fitting white gloves.

Cranston Police advise the community not to approach the suspect, as he is considered armed and dangerous. If a member of the public encounters an individual matching the description of this suspect, call 9-1-1 or the Cranston Police Detective Division at (401) 942-2211.
