PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Police in Providence are investigating a woman’s death Tuesday morning as the city’s 14th homicide of the year.

The woman – identified as 54-year-old Zenaida Pacheco – was found dead at about 10:40 a.m. at an apartment on Randall Street, according to police. Residents called her Zena.

“She was always friendly,” said neighbor Sean Chapman. “She would sit out here and talk to people. I would always say hi to her.”

An autopsy concluded that Pacheco was the victim of a homicide, but police have not said how she died.

Pacheco was a mother of five, and neighbors said she always showed deep affection for her children. Now, her memory lives on as police try to find her killer.

“She didn’t deserve that,” Chapman added. “I don’t care who did it or what did it, she didn’t deserve that.”

Police do not yet have any suspects in the case.
