Police investigating Fall River shooting


FALL RIVER, Mass. (WPRI) — Fall River police say a man was shot early Saturday morning near Kennedy Park.

Police got the call at about 12:45 a.m.; when they arrived in the area of Bay and Chace Street, an officer found an 18 year-old man who had been shot in the back.

The victim was taken to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment, and police say the wound was not life-threatening.

Investigators found that the shooting happened at Bay and Queen Street, where the victim said he was approached by three Hispanic men. It’s not clear why they confronted him but the victim told police that it escalated into a physical fight and he fled when he saw that all three of the men were armed.

The victim said he was shot in the back as he ran.
