SEEKONK, Mass. (WPRI) — Police are investigating after a crash between a tractor-trailer and a Honda Accord caused major traffic delays on I-195 West during the evening commute Wednesday.
The crash occurred around 3:30 p.m. approximately one mile prior to Exit 1.
According to Massachusetts State Police Sgt. Michael Sullivan, both drivers suffered minor injuries and were transported to Rhode Island Hospital. The tractor-trailer was driven by a 71-year-old man from New York and the Honda Accord was driven by a 41-year-old man from Providence.
The left and center lanes heading westbound were closed as crews worked to clear the crash, causing major traffic backups. The scene cleared around 6 p.m.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
