PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) – Providence police are investigating two serious crimes which occurred Friday night.
The first occurred at about 7:30 on Atwells Avenue, outside the restaurant Nami. According to Lieutenant John Ryan, a valet told police that four men approached him, pointed a gun at him and demanded the keys to the white Volkswagen which he was about to park. He turned them over and the four men fled.
The car was found a short time later in a parking lot at 25 Tobey Street.
The second, unrelated incident occurred about twenty minutes later in the area of Gordon and Reynolds Avenues, where a 20 year-old man told police that someone shot him as he was getting out of his car.
Ryan said the man was hit once in the leg and that the injury was not life-threatening.
