Police: Drive shaft on highway blamed for 14 flat tires

News

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Rhode Island State Police are investigating after 14 vehicles sustained flat tires on I-95 north Tuesday evening.

Police said they started receiving calls at about 7:30 p.m. about vehicles getting damaged near the Thurbers Avenue curve in Providence.

A drive shaft was later found on the highway, which police believe was the cause of the flat tires.

It’s not yet clear where the drive shaft came from.

Police said there were no injuries, and no lanes needed to close as a result.
