COVENTRY, R.I. (WPRI) — Police have charged the driver in a single-car crash that killed a Coventry woman Thursday night.
According to the Coventry Police Department, officers responded to the crash around 9 p.m. on Washington Street.
Following an investigaiton, police determined a Chrysler Sedan was traveling eastbound when it struck a telephone pole. Police believe speed was a factor in the crash.
The driver, Brianna Sauro, and passenger, Kaitlyn Holroyd, were both transported to the hospital. Police said Holroyd, 21, of Coventry, succumbed to her injuries at the hospital.
After being treated for her injuries, Sauro, 20, of West Warwick, was arraigned at the Coventry Police Department on a charge of driving to endanger, death resulting.
Due to her injuries, police said Sauro was released and is scheduled to appear in Kent County District Court on Feb. 6.
