EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Three Providence men were arrested on drug charges following a months-long investigation into a large scale fentanyl distribution ring.
The investigation began back in April, with a joint investigation by the East Providence and Providence Police Departments.
Police said investigators set up surveillance teams after learning large quantities of fentanyl were being processed, sold and stored in Providence and East Providence.
On June 4, police executed search warrants at buildings on Burnside Street and Alabama Avenue in Providence and on a 2016 Honda Accord.
Providence police seized the following items while executing the search warrants:
- Approximately 3 kilograms of suspected fentanyl
- 6.4 grams of suspected fentanyl pills
- 15 grams of suspected cocaine
- $59,326 in cash
- A kilo press
- Several cell phones
Police also seized the 2016 Honda Accord itself.
As a result of the investigation, Providence police arrested the following three men on charges of drug manufacturing, possession and delivery schedule:
- Andrew Savinon, 29, of Providence
- Lorenzo Rivas, 23, of Providence
- Erick Gutierrez-Polanco, 23, of Providence
