PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — A man was rushed to the hospital after being stabbed Tuesday night.

According to Providence Police Lt. Stephen Gencarella, the incident occurred in the area of North Main Street and Doyle Avenue.

Police say the 42-year-old male victim was rushed to Rhode Island Hospital and is in stable condition.

Gencarella said investigators believe the attack was targeted and that the suspect and the victim know each other.

Police say witnesses saw the victim and the suspect fighting before the stabbing took place.

No arrests have been made and police are still working to track down the suspect, who is still at large.
