EAST GREENWICH, R.I. (WPRI) – Bridge work in the West Bay is kicking into high gear, the DOT tackling 12 projects in the area over the next year and a half.
The latest project beginning this week on the Shippeetown Road Bridge.

The structure carries commuters over interstate 95 between Crompton and Division Road on the East Greenwich and West Warwick town line.
The structure is over 60-years-old and in need of repairs to the concrete arches, new guardrails, curbing and repaving.

If you head this way – give yourself a few extra minutes – you will now notice traffic heading south is being detoured.

Drivers are being sent to Crompton Road to New London Turnpike then Division Road.
No changes underway for drivers heading north.
The 10.8 million dollar project is scheduled to finish by the end of 2020.
