Perdue recalls 31K+ pounds of chicken products

EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Perdue Foods has recalled more than 31,700 pounds of certain ready-to-eat chicken products after learning they may contain pieces of bone.

According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), the affected items were sold nationwide and bear “EST. P-369” inside the USDA mark of inspection.

The issue was discovered after the company and FSIS received complaints from consumers, the agency said. To date, there have been no reports of adverse reactions related to the products being eaten.

The following products are included in the recall:

  • PERDUE® SIMPLY SMART® Organics Refrigerated Gluten Free Breaded Chicken Breast Tenders: “Best If Used By Date” of 5/20/2019 and UPC 072745-001437
  • PERDUE® SIMPLY SMART® Organics Refrigerated Whole Grain Chicken Breast Strips: “Best If Used By Date” of 5/20/2019 and UPC 072745-002656
  • PERDUE® SIMPLY SMART® Organics Refrigerated Whole Grain Chicken Breast Nuggets: “Best If Used By Date” of 5/20/2019 and UPC 072745-001642
  • CHEF QUIK® Frozen, Fully Cooked Breaded Chicken Tenders Boneless Tender-Shaped Chicken Breast Patties with Rib Meat: “Packed On Date” of 9080 (3/21/2019) and UPC 22143
  • CHEF QUIK® Frozen, Fully Cooked Whole Grain Chicken Breast Strips Strip-Shaped Breaded Chicken Breast Patties with Rib Meat: “Packed On Date” of 9080 (3/21/2019) and UPC 77265

All the affected products were produced in March 2019, according to FSIS.

Consumers are advised to not consume the products but rather throw them away or return them to their place of purchase. Perdue Foods can also be contacted for a refund at 866-866-3703.
