WEST WARWICK, R.I. (WPRI) — West Warwick Police made an arrest in connection to several break-ins in town. However, oddly enough, some of the homeowners didn’t even know they’d been targeted.
Police said Ryan Ruscetta, 28, of Coventry has been charged with three counts of burglary.
Police responded to a call about a suspicious male in the Fawn Lane area on the evening of Feb. 8.
After locating Ruscetta, officers said they recovered two firearms, jewelry and other stolen property. They said upon further investigation, they determined Ruscetta broke into three homes without the knowledge of the homeowners.
Colonel Richard G. Silva of the West Warwick Police, credits the arrest to a “perceptive citizen” who called the police immediately when they felt something was out of place.
“I can’t stress enough the importance of calling the police when something seems wrong or out of place,” Silva said. “Too many times people wait before calling the police. Not this time. Instead, a perceptive citizen called police immediately, and our officers arrested the person responsible for breaking into three houses, and recovered two stolen firearms.”
Ruscetta will be arraigned on Tuesday in 3rd Division District Court.
