PEMA working to clear roads after Monday snow

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Travel was difficult in Providence Monday, as wind and snow battered Southern New England.

Snow crews from the Department of Public Works were on the roads all day, trying to clear snow and ice.

Officials said the roads were bad, adding that people should take it slow when driving.

“It is slick. It is hazardous right now,” said Michael Borg, director of the Providence Emergency Management Agency. “We want to make sure everybody out there, if they do have to go out, just take a little bit more time and precaution – and use a little good judgement when out driving around on the roads.”

If you’re in the city tonight, one thing to keep in mind: residents with overnight parking passes are not allowed to park on the street while the parking ban is in effect.
