NEWPORT, R.I. (WPRI) – Hundreds took part in the annual Citizens Bank Pell Bridge Run Sunday morning.
The race, which kicked off in Jamestown at 7:15 a.m. and covered four miles to downtown Newport, raises money for local nonprofits, pulling in almost $60,000 this year.
This year’s winner, Citizens Bank employee Geoff Nelson, beat almost three thousand others for his fourth consecutive win.
The race is unique in that it’s the only time pedestrians are allowed on the bridge.
