WARWICK, R.I. (WPRI) — Police in Warwick are investigating a serious pedestrian crash.

According to police, officers were called to the area of 70 Centerville Road for a report of a pedestrian hit by a car.

Police said the crash involved a 32-year-old driver from Warwick and 27-year-old pedestrian from West Greenwich. The pedestrian was transported to Rhode Island Hospital with serious injuries, according to police.

The man’s identity is being withheld pending family notification.

Police said an initial investigation found that the car was traveling east on Centerville Road in the left lane – when it collided with the pedestrian who was crossing the road from the northbound side to the southbound side.

According to police, the pedestrian was not in a marked crosswalk at the time of the crash. Officials said it does not appear drugs or alcohol were factors.
