Pedestrian killed by commuter rail train in Brockton

BROCKTON, Mass. (AP) — MBTA transit police say a man has been struck and killed by a train at the commuter rail station in Brockton.The man was struck at about 2 p.m. Saturday about 100 yards from the platform. The station is near the Brockton Police Station.Transit Police Lt. Richard Sullivan told The Boston Globe three people were crossing the tracks at a designated crosswalk. Two made it across safety, but the man was struck by a test train that was not carrying any passengers. He was pronounced dead at the scene.The Enterprise of Brockton reports the man was visiting from Brazil, and that his friends, four men and two women, were distraught as they talked with police. One woman told the newspaper her friend was visiting, but she and the others did not give their names.
