Pawtucket police seeking warrants after sex offender checks

PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WPRI) – Police are seeking arrest warrants for several sex offenders after a multi-day operation to check up on them.

Pawtucket police worked with U.S. Marshals, State Police and the Department of Corrections Probation and Parole unit to verify the addresses of registered sex offenders in the city over the course of three days.

Ten sex offenders were not in compliance with state sex offender registration laws and police will be seeking arrest warrants for them.

Police said that the compliance checks also resulted in six DCYF investigations and six arrests on charges that included failure to register as a sex offender, possession of child pornography, and other outstanding warrants.
