Pawtucket man arrested for two armed robberies

PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WPRI) — A Pawtucket man is behind bars after being arrested for two robberies, police say.

On Wednesday, police received a call from a female clerk at Fairlawn Wine and Spirits who said she had just been robbed.

The woman told police the suspect was a man wearing black clothing and a ski mask. She said he was also in possession of a knife. Police say he left the store, located on Smithfield Avenue, after taking an undisclosed amount of cash.

Officers apprehended 19-year-old Tyree Tilson on Samuel Avenue after a short foot pursuit.

After further investigation, it was concluded by detectives that Tilson was also responsible for an armed robbery at Pawtucket Food Mart on Tuesday.

Tilson has been charged with two counts of first degree armed robbery and is scheduled to be arraigned on Thursday.
