The snowfall Friday afternoon has prompted the Pawtucket Red Sox to postpone their home opener.
The team will instead kick off their 2018 campaign at 1:35 p.m. Saturday against the Lehigh Valley IronPigs.
This is the third straight year the PawSox have had the start of their season delayed due to weather, according to spokesperson Bill Wanless.
Fans with general admission or box seat tickets for Friday night’s game can use them for any upcoming regular season game, based on availability.
Tonight’s game has been postponed due to snowfall and unplayable field conditions. The PawSox will now plan to open their 2018 season tomorrow at 1:35pm. Light snow showers are possible Saturday morning but the skies are expected to gradually clear in the afternoon.

Expected to take the hill for Pawtucket Saturday is Justin Haley, who posted a 1-2 record and 2.93 ERA in seven outings for the Sox last season.
The first 3,000 fans in the stadium will receive a PawSox wall calendar courtesy of WPRI 12, Fox Providence and National Grid.
Wanless said the two teams will make up Friday night’s game with a double-header during the IronPigs’ next visit to McCoy May 25-28.
