Overnight road work wraps up on I-95 North

I-95 construction

CRANSTON, R.I. (WPRI) — After a night of snarled traffic, construction crews wrapped up work on I-95 North early Thursday morning.

Lane closures started at 9 p.m. Wednesday and went through about 5:30 a.m. Thursday. During that time, drivers reported long delays, with only one lane open at one time.

The closures allowed RIDOT crews to perform emergency repairs on an area of depressed pavement.

Officials will now conduct a survey to determine what caused the issue in the first place and will use the results to come up with a permanent solution.

No delays have been reported in the area during the morning commute.
