PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — A North Dartmouth man is facing several traffic citations after crashing into the fountain at DePasquale Square.

Kyle Smith, 21, is accused of hitting the fountain and driving off, leaving his car’s front bumper and license plate behind, according to a search of court records.

Smith is facing multiple traffic citations, including duty to give information and render aid, operating a motor vehicle without insurance and a laned roadway violation.

According to a police report, Smith was driving a Honda Civic and was stopped at a red light at the intersection of DePasquale and Atwells Avenues. When the light turned green, the report said Smith drove over the curb, hit a cement planter and crashed into the fountain.

An assessment of the scope of the damage to the fountain is in the works, according to a spokesperson for Providence Mayor Jorge Elorza.
