What To Look For
Matching reservation information
Ridesharing services like Uber and Lyft provide riders with a picture of the driver, along with their name, license plate number, and make/model of the car. Make sure these things match with the person who picks you up.
Riders and drivers have the option of calling each other through an anonymized phone number in order to keep personal information safe — use this option if you have any doubts.
GPS receipt of your ride
Every ride is tracked by GPS. Make sure you receive a detailed receipt of the route that was taken while you were in the car.
Some ridesharing companies like Uber and Lyft offer an ETA feature that gives a rider the ability to share their estimated time of arrival with family and friends.
Some cars have an emblem identifying the company. Be sure to look for these, located on the right-hand side of the windshield.
