NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WPRI) — A home in New Bedford appears to have been struck by lightning Thursday morning.

When Eyewitness News arrived on Butler Street, we could see damage to the home’s chimney and bricks had fallen into the driveway.

A neighbor told Eyewitness News the power had been knocked out on the street.

Eyewitness News Meteorologist Michelle Muscatello reported about thunderstorms moving through New Bedford shortly before 8 a.m.

There was no immediate word on injuries.

We’re working to get more information from the fire department.
