EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — After no one matched the winning numbers in the most recent Mega Millions and Powerball drawings, the combined jackpots are now worth just shy of $1 billion.
The jackpot for Tuesday’s Mega Millions drawing has climbed to an estimated $654 million, according to the Rhode Island Lottery, while Wednesday’s Powerball drawing will have a top prize of around $345 million.
RILOT said the Mega Millions jackpot is the second largest in the game’s history and the fourth largest jackpot in U.S. lottery history. The game has had 23 drawings without a winning ticket, dating back to July 27.
The lump sum payment for the cash option will be an estimated $372.6 million for Mega Millions and $199 million for Powerball, according to RILOT.
Tickets for both games are $2 each and can be played in 44 states.
The next Mega Millions drawing is at 11 p.m. Tuesday, and you can watch Wednesday night’s Powerball drawing on Eyewitness News at 11 on WPRI 12.
