Mystic Aquarium’s Rescue Team releases seal in Narragansett

NARRAGANSETT, RI (WPRI) – Flint, a male gray seal, made his way into the open water this week at State Pier #5 in Narragansett, after making a remarkable recovery.

Flint arrived in Mystic Aquarium’s Animal Rescue Clinic on March 2, 2016, and was released after months of rehabilitation off Monahan’s Dock at 11 a.m. Thursday morning.

Flint was rescued on Matinicus Island, ME, on February 28, by Marine Mammals of Maine.

He was then transferred to the Animal Rescue Clinic with numerous deep wounds on his body and was suffering from pneumonia as well.

Flint only weighed 46 pounds upon entering the rescue clinic, but after months of rehabilitation, he topped the scales at more than 73 lbs and his body is now in good condition.
