SWANSEA, Mass. (WPRI) – Swansea police responded to a fatal car crash involving a motorcyclist around 3:30 p.m. Sunday afternoon.

The Bristol County District Attorney’s office says 44-year-old Jamie Tavares of Swansea was killed while riding his motorcycle.

Tavares was transported from the scene to Rhode Island Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

An initial investigation shows Tavares was traveling south on Maple Avenue, just south of Route 6, when he collided with a Volkswagen Jetta heading north on Maple. The driver of the Jetta, a 52-year-old woman from Swansea, was not injured in the crash.

The crash is still under investigation by the Swansea Police Accident Reconstruction Unit, the Swansea Police Detective Division, and State Police detectives.

There is no foul play suspected at this time.
