Military mistakenly ships live anthrax to labs

News

WASHINGTON (AP) — Federal officials are recommending that four people working in three commercial labs get preventive treatment for exposure to anthrax.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says it’s investigating what the Pentagon calls an inadvertent shipment of live anthrax spores to government and commercial laboratories in as many as nine states, as well as overseas.

The spores that were shipped were supposed to have been dead.
