Man wanted for allegedly assaulting his ex-girlfriend

Lincoln assault suspect Gabriel Martinez

LINCOLN, R.I. (WPRI) — An arrest warrant has been issued for a Providence man accused of assaulting his ex-girlfriend at her home in Lincoln.

Police allege Gabriel Martinez, 33, confronted the 30-year-old woman outside her Church Street home Saturday afternoon and when she tried to retreat inside, he reportedly forced his way in. The victim told police Martinez then threw her down and tried to suffocate her with a pillow.

The woman began to struggle and scream for help, according to police, and Martinez eventually took her phone and fled the area in a silver 2004 Honda bearing Rhode Island registration AN-704.

Police said the victim had a no-contact order out against Martinez.

Martinez is wanted on charges of domestic breaking and entering, domestic larceny, domestic disorderly conduct, and violation of a no-contact order, and failure to relinquish a telephone.

Anyone with information on Martinez’s whereabouts is asked to call Lincoln Police at (401) 333-1111 or notify their local police department.
