Man shot in front of Providence recreation center

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Providence police are investigating after a man from Bristol was shot in the capital city Saturday.

According to police, a shooting was reported around 4:36 p.m. Officers found the 18-year-old victim shot multiple times in front of the Neutaconkanut Recreation Center.

Police said the man was transported to Rhode Island Hospital where he went into surgery. Officials say he is now in critical but stable condition.

Providence police said they have a description of the suspect, but they have not yet released it to the public.

The investigation is ongoing.
