Man killed after car plunges off I-93 in Boston

BOSTON, Mass. (WPRI) — State police say a 50-year-old man died after his car plunged off Interstate 93 in Boston and struck another vehicle on the road below.

Troopers say Daniel P. Lee of Chatham was driving northbound on the highway shortly after 12:30 a.m. Sunday when his car went through a guardrail near exit 14, went airborne, rolled over and struck another vehicle traveling on Morrissey Boulevard.

A 24-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman, both from Dorchester, were in the other vehicle and were taken to Boston Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Morrissey Boulevard northbound was closed until just before 5 a.m. when the scene was cleared.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
