Man injured in Coventry pedestrian crash

COVENTRY, R.I. (WPRI) — A Coventry man was taken to the hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a car on New London Turnpike Saturday, police said.

In a news release Saturday night, police said the 41-year-old man was struck by a 69-year-old Coventry woman who was driving near Wendy’s.

The man was taken to Rhode Island Hospital by rescue but is expected to survive.

The female driver remained at the scene and was later released by police. No charges are expected at this time.

The crash is under investigation by the Coventry Police Department Accident Reconstruction Team.
