Man injured during armed robbery at Shell station


DARTMOUTH, Mass. (WPRI) – The Dartmouth Police Department is investigating after an armed robbery at a Shell gas station Friday night.

Police received the call around 6 p.m. and responded to the gas station at the intersection of State and Reed Roads.

According to a release from the Dartmouth Police, a male customer at the gas station told police he had been assaulted, beat with a firearm, and robbed of cash, all while inside the store.

Police describe the suspect as a heavy set, African American male, approximately 5’9″, who was wearing jeans, a dark hoodie, and sneakers at the time of the robbery.

The victim was taken by ambulance to St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford to be treated. His condition is not known.

A police search of the area, with assistance from K-9’s, turned up empty. Dartmouth Police Detectives are still investigating.

Police are asking the public to contact Detective Derek Sousa at (508) 910-1775 if you recognize the robbery suspect.
