NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WPRI) — A New Bedford man was arrested Monday morning, less than four hours after allegedly robbing a Dunkin’ Donuts just a few blocks from his home.
Police responded to an alarm at the Dunkin’ Donuts on Union Street around 5:30 a.m. The clerk told police a man came into the shop with his hand in his sweatshirt, indicated that he had a weapon, and demanded cash. The robber then ran off with an unknown amount of money from the cash register.
Officers were quickly able to identify the suspect as 35-year-old David Brown. Around 9:15 a.m., police went to Brown’s Acushnet Avenue home, less than a half-mile from the robbery scene, and arrested him without incident.
Brown was scheduled to be arraigned Monday afternoon in New Bedford District Court on armed robbery charges.
