Man accused of physically assaulting girlfriend outside casino

Lincoln domestic assault, kidnapping suspect Jason Cook

LINCOLN, R.I. (WPRI) — Police are working to track down a man suspected of physically abusing his girlfriend outside Twin River Casino in Lincoln.

On Monday, police said they had obtained an arrest warrant for Jason Cook after his girlfriend reported the incident Sunday morning.

According to police, the 48-year-old woman said she and Cook returned to her RV after attending a concert at the casino. Cook reportedly consumed a “large amount of alcohol” and became aggressive and argumentative.

Police said at one point, he hit the woman in the face with a pair of pliers, causing a laceration, then continued to assault her and vandalize items inside the RV.

The woman tried to get out of the vehicle but said Cook prevented her from leaving, according to police.

Police said the ordeal lasted for several hours until Cook had his girlfriend drive him to Providence and drop him off at Kennedy Plaza around 7 a.m. Sunday.

The woman went straight to Lincoln Police Headquarters. Police said she had a laceration on her face and other red marks on her body consistent with the reported assault.

Cook, 44, is wanted on charges of felony domestic assault, domestic kidnapping, domestic vandalism, and domestic disorderly conduct.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has knowledge of Cook’s whereabouts is asked to call Lincoln Police at (401) 333-1111.
