SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (WPRI) — A Middletown man is facing a second DUI charge after police said he was caught driving erratically in South Kingstown following a court hearing related to a separate DUI arrest.
South Kingstown police said they received a report around 3:30 p.m. Thursday about a driver on Commodore Perry Highway who was “all over the roadway.”
When Herbert Bliven, 51, was pulled over, he told police he had been in court earlier that day for a previous DUI charge. Bliven said he “felt good” about the outcome, according to police, and decided to head to the beach and the bar before driving home.
Bliven was charged with DUI (BAC unknown) and issued a summons for refusal to submit to a chemical test and laned roadway violations, police said. He’s being held at the ACI pending the results of a bail violation hearing and a pretrial conference scheduled for Sept. 12.
