WARWICK, R.I. (WPRI) — A North Providence man accused of causing severe head injuries to his seven-week-old son will remain held on $100,000 bail.

A judge denied 22-year-old Daniel Walker’s request for reduced bail at a hearing in Kent County Court Thursday.

A North Providence police detective became emotional while giving an update in court on the infant’s condition. The detective said the baby remained on life support, and that “end of life discussions had begun” with the child’s mother.

Walker is charged with first-degree child abuse. He is due back in court in January.
