Warwick Veterans Middle School evacuated due to threat

West Bay

WARWICK, R.I. (WPRI) — Warwick Veterans Middle School was evacuated and closed for the day Tuesday morning after a note containing a threat was found.

According to a post on the school’s Twitter page, students were evacuated “out of an abundance of caution.”

School officials say a faculty member found the note and a pellet gun early Tuesday morning.

According to the post, students who regularly take the bus were dismissed from the soccer field area and the remaining students were evacuated to the Mickey Stevens Ice Rink.

School officials say they determined there was no “hit list” of targeted students.

No one was hurt and police are continuing to investigate. Officials say there will be school Wednesday.
