WARWICK, R.I. (WPRI) — Warwick Veterans Middle School was evacuated and closed for the day Tuesday morning after a note containing a threat was found.
According to a post on the school’s Twitter page, students were evacuated “out of an abundance of caution.”
School officials say a faculty member found the note and a pellet gun early Tuesday morning.

According to the post, students who regularly take the bus were dismissed from the soccer field area and the remaining students were evacuated to the Mickey Stevens Ice Rink.
Due to today’s incident students from Vets MS were evacuated to the ice rink out of an abundance of caution; the school day is ending. Dismissal is from Thayer Arena ice rink. School officials say they determined there was no “hit list” of targeted students.
No one was hurt and police are continuing to investigate. Officials say there will be school Wednesday.
