WARWICK, R.I. (WPRI) -- K-9 Viking underwent another surgery Wednesday after an incision on his leg became infected, according to the Warwick Police Department.
Warwick police said in a Twitter post that a cyst removed from Viking during a surgery earlier this month tested positive for cancer.
On May 6, Viking had several cysts and broken teeth removed during a five-hour surgery. He was also neutered in order to prevent future health problems.
During his recovery, Viking's leg became infected, meaning he needed to have another surgery.
"Viking has had some setbacks since his surgery," the Twitter post reads. "The incision on his leg became infected and the removed cyst tested positive for cancer. He is undergoing surgery today to address the infected areas. Prognosis is good but some prayers wouldn't hurt."
