COVENTRY, R.I. (WPRI) — A Coventry man was arrested Tuesday after police say he stole copper piping from a vacant home.

According to the Coventry Police Department, police received calls from neighbors reporting that a suspicious man entered the vacant home, located on Blackrock Road.

Police said the suspect fled the area on a bicycle with a large basket containing copper piping from inside the home.

Officers found the suspect, identified as Keith Vieu, 35, and took him into custody. Police said Vieu stole heating elements from the property.

Eyewitness News has learned the vacant home had been under renovation for months and recently went up for sale.

Vieu was charged with breaking and entering.
