NEIT dedicates new buildings

EAST GREENWICH, R.I. (WPRI) — New England Institute of Technology (NEIT) hosted a dedication ceremony for the institute’s first ever residence hall, as well as a new student center, on Thursday.

The new residence hall was named in honor of Steven and Harriet Meltzer, who served on the institute’s Board of Trustees since 1972 and spent most of his tenure as Chairman of the Board.

The new residence hall, with 400 beds, is part of a major expansion at the school, complete with new dining facilities, a fitness center and classroom space.

The new student center, which is 42,000 square feet, will be dedicated to Seth Kurn, who is the school’s Executive Vice President Emeritus. Kurn served the university from 1981 to 2017. Kurn was also a member of the Board of Trustees beginning 2003.
