Driver: Snow, ice from highway signs smashed my windshield

CRANSTON, R.I. (WPRI) — Bristol Resident Jennifer Andreozzi says she was hit by falling snow from a highway sign on Route 10 North approaching Exit 2A while heading home from work in Cranston Tuesday afternoon.

“Something came from above and shattered my windshield,” Andreozzi recalled.

She shared with Eyewitness News pictures of her windshield, which was shattered on the passenger side. Glass and snow were inside the car.

She knows police have been warning drivers to clear off their cars – most recently a car’s windshield was smashed by flying snow and ice in Taunton – she said she wants people to know the dangers of snow falling from highway signs as well.

“I was lucky not to be on the passenger side, that’s what I was thinking,” Andreozzi said. “If that had landed on the driver’s side it might have been different, I might have lost control of the car or something.”
