CRANSTON, R.I. (WPRI) — Two families are without a home following a fire overnight in Cranston.

The fire broke out around midnight at the home on Franklin Avenue. The Red Cross says they are now assisting six people — five adults and one child.

The damage was seen at the windows on the first and second floors of the home. Fire crews also checked the roof after they put the fire out.

It is unclear what started the fire.
