Acting Cranston Fire Chief Paul Valletta to retire

West Bay

CRANSTON, R.I. (WPRI) — Acting Cranston Fire Chief Paul Valletta will retire Friday, July 26, according to a spokesperson for the mayor’s office.

The announcement comes just weeks after Mayor Allan Fung nominated Valletta, a prominent member of the firefighter union, to lead the department.

Cranston’s finance committee unanimously approved Valletta’s nomination as fire chief earlier this month.

Valetta served since William McKenna retired in June after he was the Chief for nearly four decades.
