SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (WPRI) — Police have arrested a woman who they say did not help a person who was overdosing.

According to the South Kingstown Police Department, Julia Martin, 28, was using fentanyl with the victim back in February.

When the victim began to overdose, police said Martin did not provide assistance leaving the person to suffer, “grave physical harm.”

Martin is being charged under the state’s “duty to assist” law.
