HOPKINTON, R.I. (WPRI) — The Hope Valley/Wyoming Fire Department put their ice rescue skills to work this weekend saving a dog that had fallen through a frozen pond.

Crews were dispatched to Camp Yawgoog Road Saturday afternoon after some hikers spotted the animal in distress.

Police said through a “great team effort,” crews reached the dog by boat, quickly bringing it to safety.

The dog was transported by Hopkinton Animal Control to a local animal hospital and is said to be doing well after some warming up.
